The XRB-3 BLUE HEAD is SchlagKraft's hardest mallets of the rubber-head series. XRB-3 is highly suitable for concerts and performances, especially for ragtimes xylophone & piano, or in chamber settings.
The head is rubber, but as hard as it can get, so the XRB-3 acheives a sound range of a “standard” xylophone mallet. It produces a very clear woody xylophone sound, and will be your new “first pair to grab out of the bag.”
That being said, the XRB-3 will never hurt your ears or get wood-on-wood sound. It is also an excellent mallet choice for long hours of practicing.
The difference between the XRB-2 and the XRB-3 is greater than that between the XRB-1 and the XRB-2.
With its blue matte finish and 28 mm size rubber head, this mallet offers very good balance and performing feel. It is a medium-weight xylophone mallet, so your two mallets fast runs and technique practicing will result in building good chops.
The XRB-3 is also a very good choice for multi-percussion, including bongos, wood blocks, marimba upper three octaves, etc....
SchlagKraft cuts, sands, turns, glues, and wraps the yarn on their mallets all by hand in their workshop.
