614_13TRW; 14" x 5"; 10 stave shell; Rosewood
- Solid wood shell made of choice high quality hardwood Honduras-Rosewood in barrel construction using 25 individual segments.
The hand-crafted solid wood shell is 10 mm thick and is constructed utilizing the latest CNC technology. The exceptionally sharp edge of the shell can only be fabricated using extremely hard wood and thus enables optimum resonance. Therefore, the full warm sound of the shell is absolutely clear and transparent in all dynamic levels.
Die-cast zinc counterhoop
- Extremely stable counterhoop with 10 section division for a precise tension distribution
- In the snare side counterhoop there are 10 precisely placed slits for each snare strand. This way all strands are perfectly parallel and guarantees optimal vibration.
- Solid high-quality die-cast zinc, high-gloss chrome-plated
Tensioning lugs
- Round tension lugs made of solid steel, high-gloss chrome-plated
- Spring-mounted lug nuts facilitate the tuning of the drums and prevent the tensioning screws from jamming

Throw-off mechanism "trio piano-forte-plus op. 2"
The innovative Kolberg snare throw-off mechanism "trio piano-fort-plus op.2" impresses with its elegant design, the perfect construction and the worldwide unique luxurious adjustment possibility of three separate strainers:
"trio"
Three independent throw-off mechanisms equipped with an eccentric lever regulate the three snare strainers individually.
"piano-forte"
Each of the three eccentric levers have instant "piano" and "forte" settings. The snare pressure on the head is thus regulated in two levels. In the "piano" setting the snares have a very sensitive response even in utmost pianissimo at the edge of the drum. With the "forte" setting you have a direct crisp and dry fortissimo sound in the middle of the drum.
"plus"
The central lever works the same way as in the Kolberg snare throw-off "piano-fort-plus op.1": In addition to the "piano" or "forte" setting, the contact pressure of the complete snare system on the snare head can be increased very finely in numerous levels ("plus" function). When the snares are thrown off completely at the zero position, all previously made settings of the lever are preserved and retrievable (memory function).
- On the opposite side there are three large user-friendly knurled screws for fine-tuning of each strainer.
- All operating elements are smooth-running and can be adjusted absolutely noiselessly.
- Due to the processing of high-quality materials, the machine is long-term maintenance-free.
Snares
The three different strainers are equipped with the following snares:
- 6 wire-wound snares
- 6 gut snares
- spiral snare unit (5 spirals)
